Matcha

Even though it has been known in Japan for more than 800 years, Matcha has only recently become popular in the Western world. Originally this tea was served at the Japanese tea ceremony, but today this dazzling green powder is loved for its special taste not only by tea drinkers, but also by star cooks, eager to experiment.

The origins of this unique tea can be traced back to China during the Song Dynasty (960-1279).  During this time, Zen Buddhists started making a powdered tea from a shade-grown green tea called “Gyokuro”.
